That time we went to Pisa

After checking out of our hotel in the morning (oh hey Rick Steves' Christmas card!)

we had a few hours to spare before our train came. We didn't really have anything to do, but these people and their matching pink hats were pretty entertaining.

Once they left we were bored again, and realized there was an earlier train coming. Abby had the bright idea of simply getting on that train so we could save a few hours. I thought, "Wow brilliant!"

We boarded the train and quickly realized that there were assigned seats and we did not have one. Oh...

We tried to inconspicuously make our way with my rolly suitcase (not an easy feat down a crowded train aisle) to find somewhere to sit. Unfortunately the guy who was selling food on the train, trying to be helpful, asked to see our tickets so he could help us to our seat. How nice. He quickly realized we were on the wrong train and flagged down a conductor who told us to get off.

"What?! We are on the wrong train?!?! Who knew!"

The stop we got off turned out to be Pisa! We had an hour before our real train came, so we thought that would be enough time to see the leaning tower, Pisa's only redeemable quality. After making "conversation" with someone who knew no English, we made arm movements to show the leaning tower, and we think she told us it would be a 40 minute bus ride.

We ate crepes instead.

Abby's first crepe ever!

After eating we got on the train and made it to Rome, where we went to see Kady and Chelsea one last time!
